The Boiling Springs win was the fourth in six starts for the 3-year-old filly by Stormy Atlantic from the Blushing Groom mare Wise Bride. She has now banked $167,240 for her connections.
Earlier on Tuesday's card, D.J. Stable and Windhover Farm's Career Oriented powered past pacesetters Pretty Imposing and Spirited Game to take the $65,000 Candy Éclair Stakes, stepping the six furlongs in 1:10 flat.
Trained by Joe Orseno, Career Oriented returned $5.60, $3 and $2.20 as the favorite in the field of six fillies and mares. Pretty Imposing was three-quarters of a length behind the winner and returned $3.20 and $2.60. Spirited Game was another neck back in third, good for a $2.60 show mutuel. The exacta returned $16.60.
"She's a real classy filly," said winning rider Joe Bravo. "Joe Orseno had her ready to roll today. Turning for home she took a deep breath before switching leads, and once she switched leads it was all over."
It was the sixth win in 11 starts for Career Oriented, a 4-year-old filly by Cat's Career. She has now earned $237,000 for her connections.
Trainer Tony Wilson captured the first stakes race of his career when Pure Disco made the pace in the $60,000 Goldfinch Stakes for fillies and mares.
Ridden by Eddie Castro, Pure Disco carved out fractions of :22 3/5 and :45 3/5 before stopping the timer in 1:10 4/5. The winner returned $4.20, $3 and $2.40 in the field of eight. Beautiful East, who pressured the winner most of the way, finished a length and a quarter back in second and returned $4.20 and $3.20. The exacta was worth $18.80. Summer Sting rallied for the show, and paid $3.
It was the fourth win in 10 starts for Patricia Generazio's Purse Disco, who increased her earnings to $156,160.(Chart, Equibase)
