Silver Whistle is the 5-2 morning-line favorite in a field of eight slated to start in the 1 1/2-mile grass marathon.

Earlier this year, Silver Whistle, a 4-year-olds son of Alphabet Soup  , was up in the final strides to win the Pan American Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Gulfstream Park April 1. Like the Stars and Stripes, the Pan American is contested at the 12-furlong distance.

A winner of three of 10 starts, Silver Whistle is trained by Bill Mott and will be ridden for the first time by Robby Albarado. Silver Whistle was assigned 116 pounds.

Also exiting the Manhattan is Trillum Stable's Dreadnaught, trained by Thomas Voss. A 6-year-old Lac Ouimet gelding, Dreadnaught has won six of 26 races and has career earnings approaching a half a million dollars. Though winless in three starts this year, he was second, beaten only a head by Better Talk Now in the Dixie Stakes (gr. IIT) at Pimlico on the Preakness (gr. I) card May 20.

Dreadnaught is a graded stakes winner at the Stars and Stripes distance, capturing Calder's W. L. McKnight Handicap (gr. IIT) in 2004. Dreadnaught is top-weighted at 118 pounds and will have the riding services of Jean-Luc Samyn.

Dynalympic also shows a win at 1 1/2 miles, capturing a third-level allowance race at Keeneland in April. The son of Dynaformer   is trained by Tom Amoss, who has thrice won the Stars and Stripes, taking the 1994 running with Marastani, the 1997 renewal with Lakeshore Road, and the 2000 edition with Williams News.
