Crowd Pleaser, a graded stakes-winning son of A.P. Indy, was found dead in his paddock June 27 at Northview Stallion Station near Chesapeake City, Md. The 11-year-old stallion died from an acute cardiovascular collapse.

Crowd Pleaser ran as a homebred for George Strawbridge's Augustin Stable while trained by Jonathan Sheppard. A successful turf runner, he captured the 1998 Saranac Handicap (gr. IIIT), the Virginia Derby in course-record time, and the Calder Derby on grass as a 3-year-old, plus the 2000 Sycamore Stakes on turf. He retired with nine wins from 24 races and earnings of $605,150.

Crowd Pleaser, who was produced from the grade I-winning Night Shift mare Creaking Board, is represented by 27 winners from 50 starters.
