Darley Stable's Bernardini, runaway winner of the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), turned in an easy five-furlong breeze in 1:02 3/5 at Belmont Thursday. The colt is being pointed for the July 29 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga.

Bernardini had his first work since the Preakness on June 19 when he was timed in 1:05 for five furlongs.

"A horse cut over on him at the quarter pole and the rider had to take hold of him," Albertani said. "I was only looking for him to go in 1:03 anyway, so it made no difference."

Bernardini's main goal this summer is the $1-million Travers Stakes (gr. I) on Aug. 26.

Albertrani said Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) winner Deputy Glitters will be forced to miss the July 4 Dwyer Stakes (gr. II) due to a "little cough."

He also said his star 3-year-old sprinter, Songster, winner of the Woody Stephens (gr. II) in his last start, is doing well and is being pointed for the King's Bishop Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga.
