The Australian auction spotlight turned to the Melbourne Inglis broodmare sale on Wednesday with the great mare grab continuing on from Magic Millions last week.Former Brooklyn Lodge studmaster Garry Mudgway, now out on his own and buying on behalf of Victorian-based Lakeview Resources, paid the top price of Aust$300,000 for 10-year-old stakes-winning broodmare Rainbow Bubbles (El Moxie -- Gayle's Glance, by Bletchingly) during the opening session of the three-day broodmare section at the Inglis June Thoroughbred sale at Oaklands.Rainbow Bubbles (consigned by Woodlawn Park) was sold in foal to Coolmore sire Encosta de Lago. And because the stallion has been so popular in recent years, this mare's price was high. too.She won four races (from 1,000-1,400 meters), including the listed Sandown Park Stakes plus a placing in the group I Coolmore Classic. She has subsequently produced three named foals (one to race that is a winner over 1000 meters). Her own triple-winning dam, Gayle's Glance, has produced 13 foals (11 to race for eight winners) including group I winner El Mirarda.
