Edited press release
TVG will present wall to wall coverage of the $750,000 American Oaks Invitational (gr. IT), scheduled for July 2 at Hollywood Park.
Coverage starts Thursday with "The Works: American Oaks 2006," airing from 5-6 p.m. (PST) from the Inglewood, Calif., track. On hand to provide commentary on the workouts of all the American Oaks contenders will be Todd Schrupp, Gary Stevens, and Simon Bray. FSN Prime Ticket will re-air the show Friday at 6 p.m. (PST).
Pre-event coverage continues Saturday and Sunday with two live "Pick Six Central" handicapping shows, airing from 6-7 p.m. (PST) Saturday and 9-10 a.m. (PST) Sunday. The shows will present picks and plays on all of the special American Oaks day wagers, including the $1 million guaranteed Pick Six.
Sunday afternoon Schrupp, Stevens, Bray, and Christina Olivares will be on-site at Hollywood Park to bring viewers all the day's festivities, culminating from 3-5:30 p.m. (PST) with the presentation of "American Oaks V," which will focus on the race, which has a scheduled post time of 3:55 p.m. (PST). The 3-5 p.m. (PST) portion of the show will be simulcasted on Fox Sports NY, Turner South, and FSN Prime Ticket.
The American Oaks, run at 1¼-miles on the Hollywood Park Turf Course, will feature a field of seven fillies. Japanese invader Asahi Rising will try to make it consecutive wins for her country after Cesario became the first Japanese-based horse to win a stakes race in the United States last year. Also expected are the Todd Pletcher-trained Wait a While, who won the Sands Point Stakes last month at Belmont Park; Canadian shipper Arravale; and local horses Foxysox, Proxenia, Gallileo's Star, and Sol Mi Fa.
TVG will also cover three additional Hollywood Park graded stakes that day: the grade I $300,000 Triple Bend Handicap; the grade I $300,000 Vanity Handicap; and the grade II $250,000 American Handicap.
