Smoke Glacken Colt Tops First Session of OBSC Sale

Smoke Glacken consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, was sold for $220,000 to Joe Brocklebank, Agent For Jeff Singer Racing, to top Tuesday's opening session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2006 June Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. Out of Lawana Go Fast, by Once Wild, the gray or roan colt, whose quarter in :21 2/5 was the fastest at the distance at Saturday's Under Tack session, is a half brother to stakes placed Dreams Go Bye.
Hip No. 69, a bay filly by Danzig whose three-eighth mile breeze in :33 4/5 was the co-fastest work at the distance at the Under Tack Show, went to Carolyn Wilson for $200,000. Consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, the bay filly is out of Bubbly on Ice, by Marfa, and is a half sister to graded stakes placed Free Agent On Ice.
For the session, 117 horses brought a total of $2,710,400 compared with 157 horses grossing $3,038,300 in last year's opening session. The average price was $23,166, up 19.7% from $19,352 a year ago, while the median price was $14,000, up 27.2% from $11,000 in 2005. The buyback percentage was 35%; it was 32% in last year's first session.
Zayat Stables went to $150,000 for Hip No. 175, a filly by
Orientate consigned by Cloverleaf Farms II and Brent Fernung, Agent. The chestnut filly is out of Gold in My Stars, by Forty Niner, a half sister to stakes winners Comet Shine and Misty Mission. She worked an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show.
Hip No. 91, La Vikina, a filly by Hay Halo consigned by Pure Silk Farm, Agent, went to John Dowd, Agent for Robert Hurley, for $100,000. The dark bay or brown filly, out of Clever Moranda, by Clever Trick, worked thee eighths in :33 4/5, co-fastest work at the distance at the Under Tack Show.
