Edited press release
After almost three years as operations manager for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, Fred Winters has decided to return to a commercial role within the Thoroughbred industry.

Winters has made Kentucky his home for the past 31 years. He was farm manager for the Kentucky division of Joe Allbritton's Lazy Lane Farm from 1989 to 2001, during which time the farm purchased and raced champion Hansel. Immediately prior to joining the
TRF, Winters was a partner in and operated an equine farm management consultancy. Also during this period Winters served in many roles within the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers' Club and was the organization's president in 1998. He was an original board member of the Kentucky Equine Management Internship program.

While the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation interviews for his replacement, Winters will assist the transition process from the TRF's Maker's Mark Secretariat Center office at the Kentucky Horse Park.
