JEH Stallion Marked Tree Euthanized

Jim and Marilyn Helzer's JEH Stallion Station, which suffered the loss of popular stallions Favorite Trick and Saratoga Six in a barn fire June 6 at its New Mexico farm, had euthanized the 16-year-old stallion Marked Tree at its Texas branch near Pilot Point prior to the fire. The son of Forty Niner suffered from laminitis.

Marked Tree, who stood his entire career at JEH, is represented by seven stakes winners and the earners of $7 million. They included multiple stakes winners Lightening Ball, Seven Brides, and Sandia Slew. His fee was $1,000.

Marked Tree, who was out of the Apalachee mare Lazer Show, was a stakes winner for the Loblolly Stable of John Ed Anthony and Mary Lynn Dudley. He won four of 11 starts and earned $393,470, with his big wins coming in 1993 in the Remington Park Derby and in the Great West Stakes in track-record time at Remington.
