Fall of the Hammer outdid herself May 21 when she produced twin colts at Woodfield Farm Stud in County Waterford, Ireland. The colts are by farm stallion Balakheri.
"The previous owner of the mare came to settle up the stud fee and asked us if we would buy the mare," said Liam Norris, who owns the farm with his son, Gary. "We didn't know at the time she was carrying twins. It came as a surprise.
"There weren't any complications when she foaled. The big one came out first. The second one is just slightly smaller."
The twins are half-brothers to seven named foals, two of which are winners, including stakes-placed I Cried for You. Balakheri (by Theatrical) was a group II winner in England. Fall of the Hammer is a daughter of Auction Ring out of the Selari mare Julie Be Quick.
