Barry Abrams has been appointed to the board of directors of the Thoroughbred Owners of California.

Abrams, whose appointment became effective May 26, will serve as a trainer/owner board member for a one-year term.

"We are pleased to welcome Barry Abrams, a long-time trainer and enthusiastic owner, to the board," said TOC Chairman Alan Landsburg. "He will be a valuable addition because of his passion for the rules and regulations under which racing operates."

Abrams began his career in 1972 working with Standardbreds at Hollywood Park, where he was assistant to then-leading trainer Don Ratchford. In 1978, he went out on his own training Standardbreds at The Meadowlands. He returned to Southern California in 1987, and made the move to training Thoroughbreds in 1993.
