Hurricane Run made a superb seasonal debut when galloping home an easy winner of the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Ire-I) at The Curragh on Sunday.

The 2005 Irish and French champion 3-year-old colt faced only two rivals and won easily by 7 lengths. Champion mare Alexander Goldrun was second, followed by longshot Lord Admiral.

The next target for the son of Montjeu is the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Fr-I) on June 25, followed by a crack at the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I) at the end of July.

Impressive Winner for Rock of Gibraltar

Earlier on Sunday at The Curragh, Eagle Mountain, a 2-year-old son from the first crop of champion Rock of Gibraltar, broke his maiden in his second career start.

Eagle Mountain won the six-furlong maiden race by ¾-length under Kieren Fallon. He is out of the Darshaan mare Masskana, and is a half-brother to the champion filly Sulk. The victory gave trainer Aidan O'Brien his first juvenile winner of the season.
