Film Maker, the probable favorite for Monday's $300,000 Gamely Breeders' Cup (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park, won't be making the trip from Maryland after she popped a quarter-crack, according to trainer H. Graham Motion.
Motion gave the Hollywood Park racing office the bad news Thursday from his training base at Fair Hill. Film Maker had been scheduled to fly west on Friday.
The defection from the grade I test for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on turf left four definite starters and at least four others on the fence.
"With the cancellation, we'd have to consider going," said trainer Neil Drysdale after Dalicia worked seven furlongs on grass in 1:29 2/5.
Trainer John Shirreffs said he would confer with owner George Krikorian after Hollywood Story drilled a satisfactory five furlongs on turf in 1:01 4/5. The decision would be whether to run in the Gamely or the $175,000-added Milady Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at 1 1/16 miles on the main track on June 3.
Trainer Bill Currin was in the same boat with Memorette.
Trainer Jim Cassidy said he wanted to see the results of a blood test on Thursday afternoon before making a decision on Ticker Tape, the leading money-winner in the lineup with earnings of $1,452,396.
Considered definite are the Bobby Frankel-trained duo of Argentina (Alex Solis) and Eternal Melody (David Flores), Santa Barbara Handicap winner Sharp Lisa (Corey Nakatani) and Shining Energy.
Eternal Melody and Argentina, second and fourth, respectively, in the Santa Barbara Handicap (gr. IIT), each worked a half mile on the main track for Frankel, the leader in Gamely victories with six.
Argentina was timed in :49 and Eternal Melody in :49 2/5.
