Albert The Great Odds-On in Widener Handicap

Tracy Farmer's Albert The Great will be an odds-on favorite against six rivals in Saturday's Widener Handicap (gr. III) at Hialeah Park. Eclipse champion Jorge Chavez will be aboard Albert the Great, with the 4-year-old son of Go For Gin shouldering top weight of 120 pounds in the 1 1/8-mile event. Trained by Nick Zito, Albert The Great will be making his second start of the year after finishing a game second to Captain Steve in the Donn Handicap (gr. I) at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 3. He enters the race Saturday with a record of 5-3-3 from14 lifetime starts and earnings of $1,367,490. Highlights of his campaign include a narrow defeat in the Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga and a six-length win in The Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) at Belmont Park. Completing the Widner Field are; Tahkodha Hills (Eibar Coa); High Security (Charlene Hunt); Rich Celebration (Jose Santos); Lyracist (Nick Petro); Painted Pistol (Rosemary Homeister Jr); U So bad (Angel Castillo).
