The Tex Sutton plane carrying Bob and John, Point Determined, and A. P. Warrior arrived at Louisville Airport at about 11:20 a.m. following an uneventful flight from California.Trainer John Shirreffs and wife Dottie Ingordo, who is racing manager for Jerry and Ann Moss, arrived at 9:30 and drove to the airport to greet A. P. Warrior. Bob and John and Point Determined were loaded on to a Sallee horse van for the short trip to Churchill Downs. Both horses looked to be in excellent physical condition. Bob and John took everything in stride, but Point Determined, after being unloaded from the van, attempted to do an impersonation of his sire, Point Given, by rearing and bucking. Assistant trainer Jimmy Barnes got the colt settled pretty quickly, and Point Determined bounced along the rest of way to the barn.A.P. Warrior was put on a Brook Ledge van, which dropped him off farther down the stable area. Shirreffs immediately took hold of the shank and let the son of A.P. Indy graze right at the loading ramp for about 10-15 minutes before walking him around the shed. A. P. Warrior is in the same barn and same stall as last year's Derby winner Giacomo, who is owned by the Mosses.Otherwise, it was a slow morning on the backstretch, with most of the Derby horses galloping over the sloppy track. Two exceptions were the Kiaran McLaughlin-trained pair of Jazil and Flashy Bull, both of whom walked.
