If the last few works in California by Bob and John, Point Determined, and A. P. Warrior are any indication, all three colts are ready for big efforts in the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).
At Santa Anita Sunday, Wood Memorial (gr. I) winner Bob and John drilled six furlongs in 1:11 2/5. The clockers caught the Bob Baffert-trained son of
Seeking the Gold in fractions of :12 1/5, :24 3/5, :36 2/5, :48, and :59 4/5, giving him a final quarter in :23 2/5 and final eighth in :11 3/5. He then galloped out seven furlongs in a strong 1:24 2/5.
Stablemate Point Determined, second in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I), broke off in company with Evaluate, and went in fractions of :12 2/5, :24 4/5, and :36 2/5 before completing his five-furlong work in :59 4/5. The
Point Given colt pulled away from his workmate inside the sixteenth pole and finished four lengths in front at the wire. Like Bob and John, he closed with a final quarter of :23 2/5.
At Hollywood Park, trainer John Shirreffs sent out A. P. Warrior for a six-furlong work in 1:13 4/5. The son of
A.P. Indy went in fractions of :25 and :49 3/5 before coming home in a final quarter in :24 1/5. He galloped out seven furlongs in 1:26 4/5.
