The National Weather Service issued its 10-day forecast today that extends through May 6, otherwise known as Kentucky Derby day.

The long range forecast for Louisville, Ky., on May 6 calls for a chance of showers and a high of 66 degrees.

Half of the 10 days show a chance of rain, the two times of highest probability being this Saturday night, April 30, and Sunday and Monday, May 1 and 2.

Kentucky Oaks day, May 5, is calling for mostly cloudy skies and a temperature topping out at 74.

Two years ago, a torrential storm hit just prior to the race. The weather bureau recorded .65 of an inch of rain as Smarty Jones won on a sloppy surface. Last year, when Giacomo pulled his upset over a fast track, it was clear and 78.
