Robert and Janice McNair's Stonerside Stable privately purchased champion Ajina from the Allen Paulson Living Trust. The 7-year-old mare is the dam of one offspring, a Deputy Minister yearling colt, and is in foal to Storm Cat. She is booked back to that stallion.

"We are happy to have the opportunity to purchase such a quality mare as this," said Stonerside advisor John Adger. "She will be a valuable addition to the Stonerside broodmare band."

Ajina (Strawberry Road--Winglet, by Alydar) scored grade I wins in the 1997 Breeders' Cup Distaff, Coaching Club American Oaks, and Mother Goose Stakes the year she was champion 3-year-old filly. She earned a career total of $1,327,915. Ajina arrived at Stonerside near Paris, Ky., around the second weekend in March.
