Edited press releaseReRun, a 501(c)(3) non-profit adoption organization, announced April 24 that a select group of its signature "Moneigh" paintings are now available on eBay.
Unique in style and color, the Moneighs are created by the noses, lips, and tails of past Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winners and other notable racehorses. A hoof print, lock of mane, and brass name plate complete the paintings, which are trademarked by ReRun.
The online auction, which will raise money for ReRun's adoption program for ex-racehorses, includes last year's Derby winner Giacomo and 2004 and 2003 Derby and Preakness (gr. I) winners
Smarty Jones and Funny Cide.
A "Three Shoe" Moneigh created by 31 year old Hall of Famer John Henry and signed by his jockey, Chris McCarron, as well as Moneighs by Cigar,
Distorted Humor ,
Sarava,
Mineshaft ,
Cryptoclearance,
Menifee,
Commendable, Da Hoss, and
Speightstown will also be available in the online auction, which concludes April 30.
"We want to honor prior Derby Winners and other great racehorses whose equine artistry helps support less famous ex-racehorses who are not in the public eye after their racing days are over," said Sue Swart, ReRun's executive director. "The auction not only makes Moneighs available to racing fans, but generates enormous support from the public who want to help ex-racehorses find good homes," Swart added.
