Sagitta Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) winner King's Best is recovering satisfactorily after surgery performed Monday on a fractured cannon bone the Kingmambo colt sustained in Sunday's Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I), according to The Sporting Life.

Joe Mercer, racing manager for owner Saeed Suhail, told The Sporting Life, "As far as I know the horse is progressing very nicely. There are no problems. He is going to be in his box for months and there is no point making any hasty decisions."

King's Best, the early betting favorite for the Vodafone Epsom Derby (Eng-I), was scratched from the English classic after a recurrent muscle injury flared up during training in the week prior to the race. (More, Sporting Life)
