The National Thoroughbred Racing Association has announced that Joe Santanna, president of the National HBPA; Robert W. Green, president and CEO of Greenwood Racing; and Thoroughbred Owners of California director and board chair Alan Landsburg have joined the NTRA Board of Directors.

Santanna will replace John Roark, who recently resigned his position with the National HBPA. Green was elected to replace Bruce H. Garland, who has stepped down from his board seat as an independent Eastern Region representative. Landsburg has been appointed to replace Mace Siegel, who is stepping down from his board seat as representative of the Thoroughbred Owners of California.

Santanna is a horse owner, a certified public accountant, and an associate professor at Harrisburg Area Community College. In 2003, Santanna was honored as the national HBPA's "Man of the Year." Before joining the National HBPA, Santanna served as president of the Pennsylvania HBPA.

In 1989, Green, along with William Hogwood, founded Greenwood Racing, Inc., to expand the emerging off-track wagering market in the United States. Greenwood purchased Philadelphia Park racetrack in 1990 and has become one of the largest racing businesses in North America. Prior to founding Greenwood Racing in 1989, Green was chairman and CEO of the William Hill Organization, one of the largest wagering organizations in the world, operating more than 2,000 off-track wagering facilities in the United Kingdom and Europe. Green was also the joint Chairman of Camebell PLC, the United Kingdom's largest casino operator.

Landsburg, a former chairman of the California Horse Racing Board, retired in 2001 from a 50-year career in the television industry as an award-winning producer, director, and writer. His credits include such hits as Biography and That's Incredible. Since his retirement from television, Landsburg has devoted himself full-time to horse racing. In addition to his roles with the TOC and CHRB, Landsburg has owned, raced, and bred more than 400 Thoroughbreds.
