Patterson Named Racing Secretary at Louisiana Downs

Sam Houston Park's Tony Patterson has been named racing secretary at Harrah's Louisiana Downs.

Patterson's responsibilities will include producing the condition book and overseeing the stakes schedule, including the $500,000 Super Derby (gr. II) on Sept. 23.

Patterson is a veteran of 22 years of experience within the racing industry. He worked as both racing secretary and assistant racing secretary at Remington Park before moving to Sam Houston, where he has been assistant racing secretary for the past six years.

The Ruston, La., native previously worked at Louisiana Downs as a claims clerk and patrol judge.

Racing begins at Harrah's Louisiana Downs on May 5 and continues through Oct. 21.
