Trainer Dan Hendricks said the colt will work again April 24 and ship to Louisville, Ky., the following day.
The California-bred son of Benchmark went Monday in fractions of :12 4/5, :25 1/5, :37 3/5 and :49 3/5 before coming home his final eighth in :11 4/5.
Hendricks said Brother Derek, owned by Cecil Peacock, was well in hand and came out of the work in excellent shape.
Brother Derek, who will be the favorite or second choice in the May 6 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) presented by Yum! Brands, is riding a four-race winning streak, all stakes, culminating with his decisive 3 1/4-length score in the Santa Anita Derby.
Also on Monday in California, A. P. Warrior worked across town at Hollywood Park. He went seven furlongs in 1:27.40. A. P. Warrior ran third in the Santa Anita Derby.
