Wend Winds Way Back Home for Jenny Wiley

Claiborne Farm's Wend, owner of a five-race winning streak on the East Coast last year, returns to her Lexington home as the 5-2 morning line favorite in Saturday's $200,000 Jenny Wiley (gr. IIT) on the Keeneland turf.

Bill Mott trains the 4-year-old daughter of Pulpit, who will be ridden by Edgar Prado. A field of nine, each assigned 117 pounds, was entered for the 1 1/16-mile event for older fillies and mares. Wend starts from the far outside post position.

In her only previous run over the Keeneland lawn, Wend finished second to Intercontinental in the WinStar Galaxy (gr. IIT) last October. She followed that effort by finishing sixth in the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT), again behind the champion Intercontinental. After a break, Mott returned Wend to action with a victory in the Honey Fox (gr. IIIT) at Gufstream Park March 4.

Her rivals Saturday include Asi Siempre, who won the Valley View (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland last fall, and the Todd Pletcher-trained Brazilian, who has won three in a row. Also in the field is the Bobby Frankel-conditioned duo of Amorama and Mirabilis.
