Scott Jordan, who was an assistant starter at Churchill Downs, has been named head starter.

A 35-year-old native of Croton, Ohio, he joined the Churchill Downs gate crew in 1995. Jordan, who succeeds Roger Nagle, will have the same duties at Ellis Park, the western Kentucky track owned by Churchill Downs Inc.

Jordan previously worked on starting gate crews at Turfway Park, River Downs, and Beulah Park, but joined the Churchill Downs gate crew on a full-time basis in 2001. He had served as the top assistant on the Churchill Downs starting gate crew since 2002.
