Indian Horse of the Year Contests Santa Ana

Running Flame, a mare bred in India and that country's Horse of the Year in 1999 is among the 12 older fillies and mares entered in Sunday's grade II Santa Ana Handicap at 1 1/8 miles over Santa Anita's Camino Real Turf Course.

Trainer Paddy Gallagher, who has had the 6-year-old daughter of Steinbeck (by Mr. Prospector) since the first week of January, said owner Mark Dixon had initially planned to sell the mare but changed his mind and kept her in training.

Radiant, another Indian-bred owned by Dixon and trained by Howard Zucker finished fifth of six in a turf allowance test at Santa Anita on Wednesday.
