Traditional Bank to Match Donations to RFE During Keeneland Meet

Edited press releaseTraditional Bank will match donations made to The Race For Education during Keeneland's spring race meet, April 7–28, through the foundation's Racehorse Nomination Program.The Race For Education (RFE) is a national scholarship 501(c)(3) that awards tuition scholarships to children of racing industry workers and young people studying for equine-related careers. Thoroughbred racehorse owners' nominate their horses to the Racehorse Nomination Program by agreeing to donate one to two percent of a horse's earnings to RFE. Since 2002 more than 400 horses have been nominated to the program. "As a community bank, we're very proud to support an organization that directly impacts something as vital to our local economy -- and our way of life -- as the Thoroughbred racing industry," said Bill Alverson, Traditional Bank's senior vice-president."Matching donations are a great way to inspire more owners to nominate their horses to the Racehorse Nomination Program," said Elizabeth Collier, RFE executive director. "We are excited about our partnership with Traditional Bank." Following its spring scholarship recipient selection process, RFE will have awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to approximately 80 students. The mission of the organization is to improve the quality of life for young people through education, attract younger and better-educated individuals to careers in the Thoroughbred industry, and establish the racing industry as a good citizen.
