Grade I winner Southern Image, who is standing his first season at Taylor Made Farm near Nicholasville, Ky., under the Taylor Made/WinStar banner, will shuttle in 2006 to Widden Stud near Denman, Australia.
An interest in the 6-year-old son of
Halo's Image was recently purchased by a syndicate headed by Widden and Iskander Racing.
"Widden has a marvelous reputation in the Australian breeding industry and shares similar philosophies about stallion management with Taylor Made and WinStar." said Taylor Made vice president Ben Taylor. "Iskander Racing is a dynamic young company whose presence in the Australian Thoroughbred market is on the rise, and we are sure that these two companies will give Southern Image every opportunity in Australia to succeed."
Southern Image, who is out of the
Dixieland Band mare Pleasant Dixie, scored grade I wins in the Santa Anita and Pimlico Special Handicaps and the Malibu Stakes. He earned $1,843,750.
"We looked at a lot of young stallions over in America to find the right horse for our conditions," said Widden's Derek Field. "We found everything we need in Southern Image. He is from the right sire line, has a strong pedigree, had a genuine turn of foot, and was a high class horse, being a triple grade 1 winner."
Southern Image's fee at Taylor Made is $15,000.
