Cal Champ Calkins Road Standing at Ponzo Equine

California champion Calkins Road has entered stud at Ponzo Equine Center near Santa Ynez, Calif., where he is standing for a private fee for owners Thomas and Deborah Shapiro.
A homebred for the couple, Calkins Road was 2002 California champion 3-year-old male after winning the California Cup Classic Handicap over that year's Cal-bred Horse of the Year, Continental Red, and the Cal Fed Snow Chief Stakes.
Calkins Road ran third to winner
Came Home in that year's Affirmed Handicap (gr. III).
Seven-year-old Calkins Road (Illinois Storm--Little Code, by Lost Code) also was a stakes winner in 2004, taking the Joseph T. Grace Handicap, and was graded stakes-placed.
He retired with five wins from 21 starts and earnings of $520,735.
