Florida Derby Win Elevates Barbaro on Graded Earnings List (Updated 4/2)

Victory by Barbaro in the Florida Derby (gr. I) moved the colt into second on the list of leading contenders for the May 6 Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) on the basis of money earned in graded stakes.

Also making a large move in the graded earnings race as a result of the Florida Derby was runner-up Sharp Humor, who went from 19th to ninth. And third-place finisher Sunriver earned his first graded money on the Derby trail with a $100,000 purse from the Saturday's race.

The Derby is restricted to 20 starters. If more than 20 enter, total earnings in graded stakes are used to determine the starters.

The earnings are through April 2.

Horses may supplement to the Derby, but original and late entries are given preference.
