Qui Bid, a multiple stakes producer, was euthanized March 25 because of founder at Christopher Thomas' Hedgestone Management near Stratford, Ontario, Canada. The 21-year-old unraced daughter of Spectacular Bid produced an Arch filly this year that also died.
Hedgestone owned Qui Bid for 17 years. Ten of her 12 foals of racing age were winners, including stakes winners Que Belle, Alybgood, and Quartier Latin. A daughter of Seattle Dancer, Que Belle was a German champion and dual classic winner. Her son Osidy (by
Storm Cat) won last year's Will Rogers Stakes (gr. IIIT). Another daughter of Qui Bid, stakes-placed Qelle Amie, is a stakes producer. Thomas plans to race Qui Bid's yearling filly, Qui Moi (by
Swain).
Qui Bid was bred by E.A. Cox Jr. and Cherry Valley Farm in partnership with Hawksworth Farm, which campaigned Spectacular Bid.
