The Equine Spectrum online auction closed after five hours of bidding to mixed results. Five out of 17 fillies or mares sold for $1.4 million, but three top prospects failed to meet their reserves. Active bidding is still ongoing for the stallion season auction.

The sales topper for the breeding stock portion of the sale was Harda Arda, a 6-year-old daughter of Nureyv, who was purchased for $600,000. The mare sold with an A.P. Indy foal at her side, and the right to purchase a 2001 nomination to Gulch. Harda Arda's first foal is a yearling filly by Smart Strike, and Lane's End Farm consigned her.

Also selling were Jive Talker (Time For A Change -- Notches Trace), who brought a final bid of $175,000. Retained (Star of the Crop -- Prize Spot) tallied a final bid of $200,000. Both mares sold in foal to Unbridled's Song and were consigned by Taylor Made. Revonda (Sadler's Wells -- Vaigly Star) sold for $300,000 in foal to Gulch; and Satin and Lace (Kissin Kris -- Wandering Lace) brought a final bid of $125,000 in foal to Thunder Gulch.

The top three prospects failing to meet their reserves were Cara Rafaela, whose bidding closed at $1.7 million, Luna Wells, whose $2.9 million final bid led all action, and multiple stakes winner Xtra Heat who closed out at $1.06 million.
