The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders' Association named Leestown as its 2005 stallion of the year with progeny earnings of $2,108,869, while Foxwood Plantation received its fourth straight title as breeder of the year with earnings of $350,179.
Other honors went to Tortuga Flats, 2-year-old filly; Nob Hill Deelite, 2-year-old male; The Beter Man Can, 3-year-old filly; Badtotheboneandrew, 3-year-old male; Happy Ticket, older female; Zarb's Dahar, older male; and Nob Hill Native, broodmare.
Two of the standouts in the group are Stanley Seelig's The Beter Man Can, who took last year's Tiffany Lass Stakes at Fair Grounds, and Stewart Madison's Happy Ticket, who captured eight stakes in 2005, including the grade I Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga.
Happy Ticket has continued her winning ways into 2006 with a hard-fought second-place effort to Round Pond in the March 12 Azeri Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park.
A daughter of Agnet, Happy Ticket has earned $877,260, while The Beter Man Can, by Lord Avie, has a career bankroll of $383,828.
