Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux is planning to move his tack to New York beginning on March 28 and ride on that circuit until late November, his agent, Jim Pegram, said Sunday.

"We feel there's a big opportunity there for Kent right now," said Pegram, who took Desormeaux's book on Feb. 16. Desormeaux had announced plans to move his tack east prior to teaming up with Pegram, but changed his mind.

"We plan to ride there and then return to California around Thanksgiving and ride regularly at the Santa Anita winter/spring meet when it starts after Christmas," Pegram said.

The agent said he would go to New York to handle Desormeaux's business.

Desormeaux, tied for eighth in the Santa Anita standings through Saturday with 22 wins, will ride Sweetnorthernsaint for trainer Michael Trombetti in Saturday's Gotham Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct, Pegram said.

A 34-year-old native of Maurice, La., Desormeaux won the Kentucky Derby (gr. II) twice, aboard Real Quiet in 1998 and Fusaichi Pegasus in 2000. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004.
