Jockey Jose Espinosa was transported to Jamaica Hospital following a spill in Friday's fourth race at Aqueduct. He was expected to be released Friday evening and planned to take Saturday off to rest before returning to action Sunday, according to his agent.

Espinosa was injured when his mount, the Bruce Johnstone-trained She's Swell, broke down on the far turn and unseated her rider in the six-furlong special weight for maiden fillies and mares. Espinosa was removed from the track by stretcher and transported to Jamaica Hospital via ambulance. He complained of head and shoulder pain and was scheduled to undergo several precautionary tests Friday afternoon.

She's Swell, a 5-year-old mare owned by Gail Beitz, was euthanized.

The accident occurred two days after New York stewards handed Espinosa and fellow rider Pablo Fragoso stiff 30-day suspensions for reckless riding in the sixth race at Aqueduct March 5. Both riders appealed the suspension.
