Craig R. Holtz has been appointed assistant general manager at Calder Race Course. Holtz, the director of operations at Oaklawn Park since January 2001, previously held this position at Calder from August 1998 to December 2000. He succeeds Michael Anifantis, who assumed the role of Racing Secretary in January.
Holtz worked at Calder for seven years before making the move to Oaklawn Park. He also served as the track's evening operations manager and director of admissions.
"I am very pleased to rejoin the family at Calder Race Course and Churchill Downs," said Holtz, who will remain at Oaklawn through the end of its season on April 15. "During my six seasons at Oaklawn Park, I have enjoyed the experience and appreciate all the opportunities afforded me here."
Holtz' responsibilities will include overall facility management during nighttime operating hours and simulcast only days, as well as heading Calder's safety committee and supervising special projects.
