New Jersey TBA Announces 2005 State-Bred Champions

The Thoroughbred Breeders' Association of New Jersey named Char-Mari Stables' Park Avenue Ball Horse of the Year for 2005.

Bred by C.J. Hesse and trained by James Ryerson, Park Avenue Ball also garnered honors as champion 3-year-old colt in light of his impressive 6 1/4 length victory in the Long Branch Breeders' Cup (gr. III) at Monmouth Park last season. He has won four of 12 overall career starts.

Other honors went to Patricia Generazio's homebred Pure Disco, 2-year-old filly; Char-Mari Stables' First Class Guy, 2-year-old colt; Dr. Phillip Torsney's homebred I'mtoogoodtobetrue, 3-year-old filly; Tee-N-Jay Farms' Trueamericanspirit, handicap male; Roseland Farm Stables' Smart N Classy, handicap female and turf runner; and John Petrini's Joey P., sprinter.
