Michael Tabor's Montjeu rallied to a five-length win over Daring Miss in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Fr-I) Sunday. The winner of last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) finished six lengths ahead of third-place Sagamix, winner of the 1998 Arc de Triomphe. Stop By finished last in the four-horse field. Montjeu completed the 1 1/2-mile course in 2:31.4 over good turf.

Under Cash Asmussen, Montjeu relaxed in the rear of the field early, with stablemate Stop By ensuring a quick pace on the lead. Asmussen rallied the 4-year-old son of Sadler's Wells to the lead with over a furlong to run and drew off to the final margin. The win is the John Hammond trainee's ninth in 10 career starts. He won the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Ire-I) earlier this year, and the Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I) as a sophomore.
