Edited press release
EQUIX has expanded both its Equine and Systems Operations with personnel who have been actively involved in the industry.

"These individuals are dedicated, experienced horsemen with a passion for delivering extraordinary value to our rapidly growing clientele," said Suzanne Smallwood, vice president of EQUIX equine operations.

Randy Thayer, Kristi Fly, and Bill Hickey have joined EQUIX as equine analysts.

A Cynthiana, Ky. native, Thayer has been involved in the Thoroughbred and polo industries for several years and has a degree in mathematics. Besides business positions, Randy has been a Thoroughbred farm manager and has assisted Lane's End Farm during sales.

A Lexington native, Fly has a degree in animal science/pre-vet from Oregon State and is certified in equine massage. In the past, she has served as a trainer, exercise rider, groom, veterinary assistant, and has worked in racetrack operations. Her skills in video productions and business management will assist EQUIX with GaitCam.com and their EquiTrax operations.

Hickey has worked as an assistant trainer for George Weaver and in equine operations for Todd Pletcher. He has also worked with Ruffian veterinarian, Dr. Jim Prendergast. Hickey is a Cum Laude graduate of Cornell University and moved to Kentucky from his current home in New York.

EQUIX is also expanding its systems operations with the intention of bringing their Thoroughbred database to the public via online subscription.

"Knowledge is power. The more information we provide to our clients and the industry in an easy manner, the more informed our clients will be in making optimal breeding and operational decisions," said Ginger Sanders, president of EQUIX.

A Danville, Ky. native, Steve Smith will join EQUIX as director of system operations and will be responsible for all EQUIX administrative, equine, and online systems. Smith is a Navy veteran with 24 years of comprehensive information technology experience. He also has experience in digital video recording and remote security monitoring systems.
