Aqueduct Racetrack cancelled Thursday's race card because of the threat of a major winter that was forecast to dump from four to six inches of snow coupled with a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain.
Thursday's seventh, eighth and ninth races will be brought back as extra races for Saturday; the second and fourth will be brought back as extras for Sunday.
The National Weather Service reported that a fast-moving winter storm was expected to impact portions of the Northeast today, mainly from southern New York state and northern Pennsylvania eastward across northern New Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island. The heaviest snow for New York City was forecast for the afternoon.
