Alphabet Kisses Retired; Will be Bred to Awesome Again

Harris Farms' homebred Alphabet Kisses has been retired from racing and will fly to Kentucky March 3 to begin her broodmare career.

The daughter of Alphabet Soup  -Kiss for Six, by Saratoga Six, has been booked to Awesome Again   at Adena Springs. The 5-year-old gray mare will be boarded at Indian Creek Farm in Paris, Ky.

Alphabet Kisses won 7 of 17 starts and $590,271, including victories in the La Brea Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita and the A Gleam Handicap at (gr. II) Hollywood Park. She won at distances from 6 furlongs to 1 1/16th miles on both dirt and turf. Marty Jones trained her throughout her career.

She ran second in her last start, the Pro or Con Stakes at Santa Anita Feb. 25, beaten 1 ¼ lengths by Moscow Burning, another Harris Farms-bred mare. The race was run in a quick 1:33.40, with Alphabet Kisses setting torrid fractions of :45.31, 1:08.62, and 1:20.84.

"She retires sound and could have had a very credible season this year at the track, but she really didn't have much left to prove," owner John Harris said.
