Original Spin Named Illinois Horse of Year

(from Hawthorne release)Original Spin, winner of the Arlington Washington Lassie (gr. III) and third-place finisher in the Alberto VO5 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) as a 2-year-old, edged Fort Prado for Illinois-bred Horse of the Year honors in 2005.
The Russell L. Reineman Stable's bay daughter of
Distorted Humor -We Love Granny (Home At Last) won two of three races in 2005 and earned $222,800. Charles Nuckols, Jr. and Sons bred Original Spin, also named the state's leading juvenile filly.
Fort Prado earned honors as Illinois' top older handicap male and Male Turf Horse for owner Team Block and trainer Chris Block.
Original Spin is set to make her 2006 debut in the $150,000 Forward Gal Stakes (gr II) on March 5 at Gulfstream. If all goes well, she will then ship to Keeneland to continue preparations for the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill Downs.
