California-based trainer Paul Aguirre is being required to place his entered horses in the Santa Anita detention barn day for 30 days after one of his horses tested over the allowable limit for total carbon dioxide on Feb. 5.
The California Horse Racing Board advised the Los Angeles Turf Club of the decision Feb. 23. The detention period, which is a condition of the trainer's stall agreement, began Feb. 19 after an informational meeting with Aguirre the preceding day, according to a Santa Anita press release.
The test sample was taken from Jasjonjake, who finished seventh in the second race at Santa Anita on Feb. 5.
