Love From Mom, a multiple stakes producer for Irving and Marge Cowan, was euthanized in mid-February at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute near Lexington following complications from colic. The Cowans boarded the 25-year-old pensioned daughter of Mr. Prospector at Warren Rosenthal's Patchen Wilkes Farm near Lexington.
"Mr. Cowan didn't want surgery performed on her, and we decided it was best to euthanize her," said farm manager Barry Ezrine.
All four of Love From Mom's stakes winners were homebred graded winners. Sea of Secrets
was a grade II winner, and Dancing Jon, Fight for Love, and Love That Jazz were grade III winners.
Love That Jazz developed into a major producer for the Cowanes. Her daughter, Society Selection, won the Alabama (gr. I), Frizette (gr. I), and Test (gr. I) Stakes and earned $1,984,200. Society Selection is now a broodmare and will be bred for the first time, to Giant's Causeway
Bred in Florida by Irving Cowan and ANW Ent., unraced Love From Mon was produced from the grade II winner Hoso (by Solo Landing). Eight of her 13 named foals were winners.
