Champion Folklore Tops Nominations to Kentucky Oaks

edited from press release--

Folklore, winner of the Alberto V05 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and the champion 2-year-old filly of 2005, heads a list of 160 fillies nominated to the 132nd running of the $500,000-added Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) on Friday, May 5, at Churchill Downs.

The number of nominations to the 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies is up from the 2005 total of 144. The total is the largest since 2001, when 167 fillies were nominated.

Folklore, a daughter of two-time Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner and 2001 Horse of the Year Tiznow, will attempt to become just the third winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and the Kentucky Oaks. Open Mind and Silverbulletday are the only two to do so.

Other nominees include: Balance, Wild Fit, Adieu, Diplomat Lady, Baghdaria, French Park, Celestial Legend, Wait A While, Itty Bitty Pretty, Misty Rosette, Sierra Sweetie, Sabatini, and Joint Effort.

Two-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Todd Pletcher leads all trainers with nine nominees. D. Wayne Lukas and Mark Hennig each have eight nominees, and Neil Howard has six.
