Jockey James T. Weatherly Dead

James T. Weatherly, who rode at Evangeline Downs, died Feb. 2 at a hospital in Breaux Bridge, La. He was 27.

Weatherly, who had been a jockey since 1995, won with 494 of his 6,567 mounts and finished second in 641 races and third 690 times. He rode Streak of Smoke to victory in the 2003 Evangeline Downs Sales Stakes.

Weatherly's survivors include his wife, Josie, and three children.
