Betsy Wells, Galloped Storm Cat, Dead

Betsy Wells, who galloped such stars as Storm Cat, died Feb. 13. Wells, who had battled ovarian cancer, was 55.

Wells served as barn foreman for Mid-Atlantic trainer Jonathan Sheppard during the 1980s and among the horses she exercised were grade I winner Storm Cat and steeplechase champions Flatterer and Highland Bud. Wells also was office manager for trainer H. Graham Motion.
