Tracy Farmer's homebred millionaire Sir Shackleton, who came into the $50,000 Super Stakes fresh off of a layoff and a series of good works at Palm Meadows, left the Oldsmar oval the holder of the seven furlong track record at Tampa Bay Downs with an additional $30,000 in earnings.

The Kentucky-bred 5-year-old son of Miswaki ran the distance on a wet fast track in a time of 1:22.28 to win by 1 1/4 lengths under jockey Jeremy Rose. Purim finished second, with crowd favorite and three-time Super Stakes winner Above The Wind third. Above The Wind set the early fractions of 22:12, 44.44 and 1:09.35 before Sir Shackleton fanned five wide to win in the drive.

"He is a real warrior; no question about it," said trainer Nick Zito by telephone.

The 9-10 favorite in the field of 10, Sir Shackleton paid $3.80, $3.20, and $2.80.
