Stevens Added to Little Red Feather Stable

Hall of Fame Jockey Gary Stevens has become a partner in the management of Little Red Feather Racing.

The undisclosed deal will add another notch on the belt of Stevens in the world of horse racing. Stevens recently inked deals with NBC and TVG to serve as an on air racing analyst for the two networks. "As much as I loved being a jockey, I have always had the goal of becoming a successful owner. I am very excited about working with the team at Little Red Feather. It's a high energy, enthusiastic group of guys. I look forward to a long lasting relationship," said Stevens.

Stevens' role in the new company will include sharing in the responsibility of selecting horses, financing, and client relations. "This is not a marketing deal," said managing partner, Billy Koch. "I was pleasantly surprised with how much knowledge Gary already has about the business of owning horses and partnership groups."

In addition to Stevens' seven Triple Crown wins (three Kentucky Derbys, two Preakness and Two Belmont Stakes), he has won nine Breeders' Cup races, the Dubai World Cup, a record nine Santa Anita Derbys and numerous riding titles.

As a side note, Little Red Feather announced that in addition to his traditional trainer duties, Don Chatlos would also be brought into the corporate fold. "Don is not only great with our horses," said Koch, "but very good with our clients and we want him more involved with the day to day operations."

Little Red Feather Racing, formed in Southern California in 2002, burst onto the horse racing scene in 2004 when Singletary, purchased for $30,000, captured the $1,500,000 NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT).
