The logo for the 2006 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, which includes a slight name change, was unveiled Feb. 6 at Churchill Downs, where the event will be held Nov. 4.
The event's name has been shortened this year – to the "Breeders' Cup World Championships." It had been the "Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships" since 2001.
The 22nd running of the Breeders' Cup day program will feature eight races with purses totaling $14-million.
The 2006 running will mark the sixth time Churchill Downs has hosted the event, and the first since 2000.
